Until the Very End

Last night I went and saw the midnight premier of Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows Part 2 and I am just sd;fkljs;dfkja;dkjf;sdkjf!!!!!!!! :D :D :D :D

I went with Andrew, Kwadwo, and Becky, and before the show we stopped by Walgreens. They had a 10 for 10$ deal on candy so we stocked up on that and then we also pigged out on popcorn and icees at the theater. Hey, every girl needs to eat 5,000 calories in one night every now and then! :P

The movie itself was so amazing!! <3 While Part 1 was more of “running around in the forest and nothing is really happening”, Part 2 was just non-stop action. There really weren’t any dull moments so I was really interested the last time. Part 1 was great the first time I saw it, but I didn’t think it held up the times I saw it afterwards; this movie I think will.

The movie really stayed true to the book. I think this was probably the most important thing for me; the books are already perfect and in the other movies when they tried to change things up, I didn’t think it worked. They kept my favorite quotes in there, the little scenes that I liked, and I loved the way they did Snape’s thoughts in the penseive. The parts that made me tear up in the books even made me tear up in the movie. <3

This was the third midnight showing I’ve been to for the Harry Potter movies and they’ve all been a great big nerdfest, which is the best. There’s just something about sitting in a packed theater with a bunch of nerds just like you cracking up and cheering at the same moments that makes it even better.

So while I’m so happy that they did a great job with the movie, I’m so, so sad that it’s all over. I was walking out of the theater and realized I’ll never have that feeling again. D: It’s really all cheesy and whatnot, but I love Harry Potter, and it’s just…over. No more books or movies. That’s it. :/

Thoughts about the movie, if you’ve seen it?

aaaaaaand, if you haven’t noticed, new layout! And guess what, I did it all by myself! Haha, well, partly. I used Georgie’s WordPress Theme tutorial for the basics, and then I edited it to the best of my ability. I’m not real familiar with CSS, so that took me a while to finally be able to do what I wanted with it, but I think it turned out pretty good for my first time, no? (You can be honest with me.)

There are some little issues that I still need to fix; for some reason the font in my sidebar and the font in my content (like posts and overall site content) are different sizes. I thought it might’ve been in the CSS, but I couldn’t find anything fixed thanks to Chelsea! Also, the comments link isn’t working. It shows the correct number of comments and you can click the link, but it won’t direct you to the comment section. Any ideas as to what the problem might be?

I haven’t forgotten about my Eurotrip posts either, I’m currently working on the first one. :)

  1. I’m replying to your comment and everything else now that you’ve opened your site back up. So expect an essay. :P

and thank you! I’m glad you think my site is beautiful… along with the art! Victoresque still has a lott more quirks to work out, but it’s getting there… slowly! It’s mainly just customizing the gallery that is giving me a headache, ach!

And ahhh. The 4×4 in. picture was such a pain to draw! But I must say that I am impressed with myself. I didn’t think it would turn out that well because of the size. XD

…and this may be late in saying this, but I am really, really sorry to hear about your grandpap. I went through the same thing back in April when my great-grandmother passed away. While I wasn’t as close to her, it was still tough, especially at the funeral and the overall “depressing” atmosphere that resulted from the aftermath of it. :/

I’m glad to see that you (and your grandma!) seem to be doing better, though.

That’s also awesome that Deathly Hallows, Part 2 stayed true to the book! I haven’t seen it yet. I want to soo badly, but I have no clue when that will happen. It looks awesome. (:

And lastly, this is a lovely new layout (I really mean it, too!), especially for someone who is a “beginner” with CSS! It’s a bloody tough language to sort through, even for me who has been working with it for years! (And coding a WordPress layout with it is even harder. It felt like FOREVER before I got everything working with Victoresque, haha.)

As far as coding issues. I believe I can help you:

Regarding the comments link… It looks like the comments link is using the ID “respond” at the end, yes? Somewhere in the post page, there is a DIV code using the name “comments”. It’s like right above the “Leave a Reply” header. If you want to use the “respond” id, then just change the “comments” ID to “respond.” You just have to make sure (on the post page) that the DIV id containing the comment section matches up with the ID used at the end of the comments link.

    I hope that makes sense?

as far as the font issues go… have you tried directly specifying the font size/type for the sidebar in the CSS?

  2. AND I forgot to mention:

I love how we have a lot of the same “favourite quotes” in the sidebar. It’s just nifty. :D

  3. You’ve done really well for first time working a tutorial … I haven’t seen Harry Potter as yet. Too much happening in my life right now. I may after this week, maybe.

  4. Awesome! I don’t really like Harry Potter, neither do I hate it. o3o I watched the first movie and read the first book but that’s it..And it’s kind of weird because i tend to love magic movies/stories/books and yeah. o___o

Lol awesome! I lovez popcorn. :D Lol especially the ones with lots of butter. XD But I hate the rainbow popcorn..wth is in it?!?

Oh I love it when the movie..you know, follows the basic storyline, nearly exactly the same. XD That’s what happened with Holes, By Louis Sachar! In the movie they said EXACTLY what was written in the book! Word to word! Lol I found it kind of weird since I’d never seen a movie like that. XD

I’ve never been to a movie at MIDNIGHT. XDD Well the last time I went to the movies was last week..But before that I hadn’t gone to the movies since 2 YEARS AGO LOL. XD Who knows why.

Awesome job on the layout! It looks simple yet not TOO simple and it fits for a blog. :P Simple=awesome layout for a blog. XDD Hope to see you keep on improving in your layouts! ;D

..I haven’t really worked with WordPress so I don’t think I’ll be able to help. D: Sorry! Maybe you could ask Georgina..?

  5. I have to agree with you! When I have to hear about people site updates, life drama, etc. I just go “Ugh” it’s good for people to let there emotions out, but not on every blog post. After a while it gets boring hearing about how people brake up with there boyfriends/girlfriends.

Hey! Harry Potter nerd right here. XD Ha I went yesterday with my friends, and throughout the whole movie I just had this tingly feeling…then I found out in the end that they were my emotions that were about to burst. I literally cried at the end thinking of that fact that the whole Harry Potter phenomena ended with the last movie. It’s hard to think how much Daniel, Rupert, and Emma have grown over the years, and how the characters of Hermione, Ron, and Harry have grown so much. It’s hard seeing one of the greatest book series of the century go. I wish J.K Rowling would make a new series but this time with the adventures of the trio’s children. :D

I have to agree with you again, you’re right the movie did stay true to the book. I thought that the director would dramatically cut things out from the movie but most things were the same. Although, I was disappointed at the end when I didn’t get to see Remus and Tonks child making out with Bill’s and Fleurs daughter…hehehe:D

Although, I’m glad I stuck with Harry Potter until the very end. Long live Harry Potter!:D

As for your new layout, it looks awesome! I love the simplicity of the colors:D

Hope to hear from you soon:D

  6. (Reply to comment on my site)
Yeah. 8D He’s so funny. XD And he comes up with so many different things and never loses his funniness. XD

Loluhm well I think I read it in grade 2..XD Now I’m in grade 6..so I might try it again..idk. o3o

It’s TERRIBLE. Yeah, I think they put sugar then food colouring or something. :< It's quite sweet and doesn't really taste nice.

Lol I have something kindo of similar! Here after like a few weeks or a month after the movie has come out they have this $5 Kidz Flix thing so you can watch it for $5. XD

You're welcome! I don't really feel like trying out WordPress..yet. :P And good luck with fixing it!

  7. You’ve done very well for a first timer! I’m proud of you!

I don’t see what all the fuss is about Harry Potter. I guess it’s cause I’m

not all that into that series or what have you. I just don’t like it. Never

have never will. Though again congratulations on your first attempt! :D. You’ll get there!

  8. I have yet to see Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: Part 2. I am kind of *scared* to see it, too because I’m not ready for it all to be over. For some reason, it is really stressing me out! xD It’s crazy how much the actors have grown up over the years and it kind of feels like I’ve grown up with them in a sense. I’m glad to hear that the movie stayed true to the book. :) I’m sure I’ll bawl my eyes out through the whole thing.

The new layout is very nice, btw! :)

  9. I saw the midnight show too! I didn’t pig out though haha I am too obsessed with my health. Candies contain so many calories =/ This was the first midnight show I went to because my mom never allowed me to go at midnight. This one I was already staying at a friend’s.

They changed a lot I think. I wish they didn’t have Cho Chang as a student because that’s just utterly ridiculous. I did like the part when Harry himself stood out of the crowd after Snape’s speech. I saved my crying for the end of the book. Movies never match up to the book, but this one was pretty good.

WOW WordPress theme! Now I’m the only one who hasn’t done it … great I feel like a loser now, haha.

  10. I completely and totally agree with you that some people needs manners and respect. I mean this gal, and I seriously hate bad mouthing people, but this gal did not do this the first time around either. She blocked me when I told her to quit talking about Andrew. She blocked my cell; and me from facebook. I didn’t know she was going to pull this again just because I told her no thank you. I mean wtf? Seriously; if she looked at my channel she wouldn’t have the balls to say that to me or to my face really. She’s hiding behind her little phone and saying this.

But see? I told you….just every little step counts in the right direction as to where to go and what to do. Eventually; you’ll start making your own layouts pretty soon! :D .

  11. Well I didn’t see Harry Potter yet, but I am not a huge fan lol, so it doesn’t really matter to me if I see it. Although I’ll probably see it next week when I am in the poconos with my friends lol And congrats on making the layout by yourself. It’s not bad for your first time. Im not a huge fan of templates, but the colors look nice! It’s easy to read. I was never good with coding, I remember in 8th grade I was just so determined (when i got my first subby) and it just stuck i guess haha.

Thank you for your advice. I use to do field hockey and lacrosse (not this year) so I know how hetic sports get. I want a job, and I think end of July would be a good time. I feel weird contacting them again. Isn’t that a little pushy? Or maybe it is just me. If I get a job that would be great, but if I don’t then it’s okay too.

aww have fun in South carolina :) I never been there haha the furthest south I’ve been was Kentucky and ont he east coast was Florida lol

Most of the “friends” on my link page haven’t contacted me/ i ahven’t contacted them. haha I guess there is some falling out. Also I am not as into blogging, so maybe it’s my fault too. I don’t put as much effort as I use too.

  12. I’ve never been a really big fan of Harry Potter, so I don’t really have the same feelings as you, but I highly respect J. K. Rowling for touching the hearts of so many people. <3 I have lots of friends that really like the books and the movies, so when I hear them tell me about it I can really see that they have a true passion for it and that makes me happy! :)

I saw the part 1, and I didn't like it all that much. I mean, there were some scenes were I thought it was really adorable like when Hermione and Harry were dancing and stuff, but the rest was as you said, kind of boring. But now that I heard from you that part 2 was full of action, I'm more motivated to go see it! Of course it is really sad when something you love ends, but it never really ends! You'll always have it in your heart and you can always "re-live" the moments by watching the movies over again and reading the books over again. When I really like a movie, I buy it and I watch it countless times. ;)

I adore the layout! I'm more of a fan of simple layouts that aren't too busy and that don't hurt my eyes, and this is perfect. I, myself, never code my layouts because I dread it. Coding is just NOT my thing at all. I love designing things in Photoshop, and I know the basics of HTML and CSS, but I am nowhere close to knowing how to code a layout. :') I know enough to run my website creatively and efficiently so I guess that's enough, right?

  13. Great job on the new layout! I’m such a cheapo with layouts, I always edit ones from wordpress xDD I wish I was better. I was much better when I was younger. I really want to see Harry Potter, I’ve heard its sooo good from everyone

  14. (Reply to comment on my site)
Aww..;o; Well at least right now I am still as close to her as I was before. c:

Lolol I might try it again then. ;D And I just realised on your blog..for the comments when I don’t have an icon it appears as a Harry Potter icon. XD

Yes tonnes of people have switched to WordPress! Maybe when I get my new domain I’ll switch. :P Idk.

  15. Hey it has been awhile, wonder how we lost contact. :| I’m glad I haven’t missed any of the updates about the trip. :D
I’m not a fan of Harry Potter at all. But being a fan of cinema and a Star Trek nerd myself I can relate. My family just finished Star Trek: Voyager (the whole series) last night and I feel sad about it.
And it is totally nice to be able to laugh and cheer at the same time instead of being the only one to get it (or not get it). It makes me shrink in my seat. :)
When I came onto your website I saw the new layout and I immediately went down to the footer to see who made the layout. When I saw no credits I figured you had made it yourself. Congrats! :D
I think it is a really, really good first try. And your fonts look awesome!
Are you saying you want the comments-link to go to a specific place on the comment page? Like right to the comments when the page loads? I would check to make sure the anchor on the comment template is there so it knows where to hop to.

  16. Haha I read this post earlier but I didn’t get a chance to leave a comment. I’m glad you could butcher my silly theme from the tutorial! :D It looks lovely, I have to admit purple and grey are pretty radical together. You’re not good at CSS but at least you knew what you were doing! (BTW, not sure if the title above the navigation is just meant to be a dot.)

Everyone is talking about Harry Potter! I’m not a fan, admittedly… but I can see how HP has been a great part of a lot of people’s lives, especially teenagers who grew up with the series.

Pigging out is enjoyable every once in a while, as long as you don’t make yourself ill! I once ate so many sweets that I hyperventilated. It was not cool.

It’s good when a movie stays true to the book. I don’t follow HP but I know that the movies are great and do follow the book. A lot of other films don’t follow the book at all or completely change it, and fans of the book are always disappointed. I had a friend tell me though, that he liked Part 1 of HP7 better, and that made his expectations high for Part 2, and he ended up being disappointed.

On the other hand, many other people cried in Snape’s moment with Lily or something… XD
